Creating a Home

I finally got all the furniture put together and in place! I know I have more work to do, especially with getting art and pictures on the walls, but we're definitely getting there.

As this process has unfolded over the past couple of weeks I'm realizing that I haven't made a home for myself in over a decade. I've always lived in anticipation of moving to the next or life has taken me somewhere new before I've been able to finish. I'm trying my best to enjoy the fruits of my labor instead of focusing on the cost associated with creating a comfortable space to live. As I have been reminded by loved ones, life costs money. So, even though I feel like it's incomplete I'm still sharing how far I've come with my spaces. As I add layers I'll continue to share. Even putting up the few pictures I do have has made the space look more lived in.

Since Germany tends to have long periods of rain and cloudy skies, I've tried to incorporate a lot of color in my furnishings to keep things happy and stimulating while inside. I already have a couple of crochet projects in the works as well to give my creative side an outlet and to incorporate additional pops of color and texture. I'll make sure to post as soon as they're done!

What are your favorite parts of decorating your space? Is it the art; finding the perfect side table; organizing and make a place for all the things?

Creating a space where we spend most of our time can laborious for some, which I totally understand. For some, it may never feel complete. Where ever you may fall, I challenge you to find a way to spend time in the joy - you deserve it.
