Athens
I had the best time in Greece. I went over Easter weekend since most of Europe shuts down for the holiday. I really wasn't looking forward to 4 days off of work, trapped in my apartment with nothing to do so a new destination was needed. Luckily, the Greek holiday was the weekend before, so I would have the whole time to be busy with activities, eating and shopping.
First, the weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold. The only downside to the trip is the Airport is about a 50 minute bus ride to the city center, so make sure to plan accordingly with when you flights arrive/depart.
This trip ended up being exactly what I needed. I found a great Airbnb located in Plaka, which was quiet but also close to all the major attractions. Before arriving I purchased a pass to allow to go to all the Acropolis, Parthenon, etc. I also got a ticket to the Acropolis Museum as was suggested on some travel sites. To be fair, I did go and see all the things as planned, I will say I think I missed out by not having a guided tour. Or at least better information than the audio tours provided to make it all a bit more interesting. At some of the spots there isn't much left of the buildings and it was hard to visualize what used to be there. I am a lover of Greek mythology and would have love to hear more of those stories, but I didn't plan very well to be able to have that experience. Word to the wise in case you plan to wing it like I did.

I spent most of my days roaming the streets, bopping in and out of cute shops. It was so much fun to just be there. There was a wonderful aroma of Wisteria in the air and citrus from the lemon and orange trees scattered throughout the streets. I walked around in the sunshine with a perm-a-grin for four days straight.

And, oh my goodness, the food! I have never had so many wonderful meals from different restaurants all in one city. I was planning my day around the next meal, everything was so delicious! This is my first trip where I didn't even bother going to the grocery store.

I really can't wait to go back to Greece. Since I was only there a long weekend, I didn't plan any day trips to the coast or any of the islands. It will definitely be on the list for the next time

This trip I really let myself play, which is something I haven't done in a really long time. I remember a part of my 10 year old self and I have really missed her. I am rediscovering a lot of things that I love, like Hazelnut - my goodness I love Hazelnut! I must of had 3 different types of desserts, maybe even four. It can definitely be a slow process to let your inner child lead, but it makes for some really fun days. In case you need a reminder, don't forget to play!
